I did at least manage to get my layout to look somewhat-decent.
More to the point, I was going to post about Christmas, it being only 3 days ago and all.
I actually enjoyed this Christmas a lot! Usually, my family has to travel to the other side of the country to go and see my mum's family. I wouldn't have a problem with that, but it's a five-hour drive and as lovely as my Aunt is, her sons are the exact opposite. I call them The Harpies privately.
I think I'll tell the story behind that name another time though. This year we actually got to stay home for Christmas, and my dad's mother, my Granny came down to visit us. This does not happen often.
On Christmas morning, I actually woke up at about 6:30 because I'd forgotten to turn off my alarm clock from school. Father Christmas (dad) had left a plastic bag instead of a stocking at the end of my bed, but I did get a chocolate orange rather than a satsuma. And a bag of Sour Patch Kids, the best sweets in the world. I then messaged some of my friends in America, and fell asleep for another three hours.
My granny actually wasn't here yet, she arrived at around noon, and my mum and dad aren't quite cruel enough to make my sister and I wait for her to arrive to open our presents. I got a laptop as my main present, which I did know about. I don't remember expressing a strong want for a laptop this year, but I'm glad I got it. I'm using it to write this, but I still need to download drawing programs like FireAlpaca onto it.
The present I DIDN'T know about, though, was the sewing machine that my parents bought for both me and my sister. I'm excited to use it, because I really enjoy making dolls and things.
Granny eventually arrived, and my dad realised he hadn't stuck the meat in the oven yet. Luckily for him, poussin doesn't take long to cook.
He'd done an entire one for each of us, but I'm not much of a "meat" person,and only ended up eating about half of it. Christmas dinner was really nice though. We remembered the crackers this year, and I got one of those mood fish, which caused a lot of laughter because my sister has very warm hands and it went crazy when we placed it on her palm. Later we discussed possible designs for the new Union Flag if Scotland leaves the Union, and made bad puns. I love puns.
After opening Granny's presents (she likes to travel and spends all year assembling collections of little items to go inside shoeboxes. They make the best presents ever.) we ended up going for a walk and then watching Doctor Who. I didn't like how Clara was pushed about in this episode, but it was a good episode and now we've got a new Doctor!
I'd like to give a medal to whoever wrote the script though. "Kidneys!" is definitely an original first line. I think the only way that Christmas Day could've been better was if I'd actually gotten to talk to my Close Friend, the one who calls me Crumpet and Boing. It's the 28th and I've still not managed to catch her.
I've been stressing a lot about school lately, despite it being Christmas break, so Christmas itself was certainly a nice break from worrying. I've started worrying again now, but on Boxing Day I was pretty content. We went for a long walk in a forest-river thing nearby and I finished the doll I had been making. I've started another one now. The last one was Kanaya Maryam from Homestuck, and this one is probably going to be Nepeta Leijon. I'm going to see how many Homestuck characters I can make before I run out of grey fleece.
Right now though, I'm going to go downstairs and see what I can bake. I've not really eaten anything all day except some of that chocolate orange, so I'm pretty hungry. My sister has a new baking book, so there's that too. Also my internet connection is going pretty steadily downhill, so I'm going to log off and stop rattling on about this. How was your Christmas?
